30 Togolese farmers in training in Israel

A wave of graduates from the National Institute of Agricultural Training (Infa de Tové), the largest Togolese institution specializing in agricultural training, has flown to Israel for training in agricultural techniques. Thirty Togolese have left for an 11-month training program in Israeli territory.

About thirty Togolese farmers, from the Higher School of Agronomy, left a few days ago for an internship in market gardening and aquaculture. The internship lasts 11 months with the goal of improving yields, emphasizes RepublicofTogo.

According to the director of the National Institute of Agricultural Training (Infa de Tové), Dr. Constant Soedji, these students will have the option to train and specialize in aquaculture, market gardening, and fruit cultivation. “When they return from this training, which will last 11 months, Israel will grant them an integration fund that will allow them to become self-employed,” he stated.

It should be noted that about ten Togolese were trained last year in Israel in agricultural techniques. This is thanks to the partnership between Togo and the Jewish state.

The state agency recalls that since the 1970s, Israel has trained thousands of African agronomists and has established pilot farms on the continent. Dozens of Togolese farmers have undergone this training, which benefits all ECOWAS member states.

In June, a team from Mashav, the Israeli cooperation agency, visited Togo for sessions dedicated to seed selection, irrigation management, and crop protection.

Israland is notably investing in Israeli agriculture by financing agronomists or agricultural companies. It is possible to invest in agricultural land dedicated to farming that will be leased or exchanged with Israeli farmers.
