Transformation project for developing cities into residential, economic, and cultural centers

A new government initiative aims to enable significant investments in developing cities. Notably, by developing a social business plan for each city. Alongside the establishment of new high-density population centers.

The pilot project for transforming developing cities, launched in the first four cities.

Young couples and many families have long despaired of buying an apartment in high-demand areas. However, they also fear buying an apartment in a remote area due to the lack of jobs.

Now, there is a new government project, recently unveiled. In cooperation with the Orr Association for the development of Negev and Galilee. This project seeks to provide a solution for residents of developing cities, who have suffered from long-term neglect.

The project, called Equal City, is designed to enable significant development and investments in developing cities. Indeed, the goal is to make each of them an independent and prosperous center. While offering a wide range of job, education, and cultural opportunities in which every family would be happy to live.

Journalists recently learned that the project has been launched in four of the first selected cities: Dimona, Ofakim, Akko, and Kiryat Shmona.

In this context, each city will have a social business plan. Furthermore, the establishment of three population centers over the next few years, each with around 300 people.

This represents just the beginning. Thus, four more cities are set to emerge next year and so on over time.

The overall goal of the plan is to install 150,000 new residents in 12 developing cities.
