In 2018, there were 2.6 million residential apartments in Israel. Most are in cities and local councils. Haifa ranks third, with about 119,700 apartments in approximately 12,300 buildings. Furthermore, Petah Tikva takes fourth place, with about 84,000 apartments in approximately 7,780,000 buildings. Rishon Lezion occupies fifth place with about 79,000 apartments spread across approximately 9,800,000 buildings. Finally, Beersheba is seventh with about 77,000 apartments spread across approximately 11,500 buildings.
On the other hand, it is noted that between 2012 and 2018, the number of new housing units – in cities and municipalities – increased by 12%. Notably, with the construction of about 255,000 apartments.
The new city of Harish emerges as the locality with the highest increase in the number of apartments. For constructions during this period. Notably, with an increase of about 2,700 apartments (x10). Followed by Beer Ya’akov, with an increase of about 2,900 apartments (x1.7).
