Budget of the Ministry of Agriculture for 2019.
The budget of the Ministry of Agriculture is 1.836 billion NIS compared to 1.714 last year. This year, the ministry will receive the highest budget in its history. Among the agreements reached – the quota for foreign workers will be raised to about 29,000.
A budget increase of 16 million NIS will be allocated to combat agricultural terrorism. In addition, 15 million NIS will be allocated to promote research in Israel.
On the other hand, the quota for foreign workers will cap at over 29,000 people. It will include the quota for foreign students who pay for agriculture. It has also been planned to increase the quotas for Palestinian workers by an additional 2,000 workers, as well as an additional 2,000 seasonal workers.

The fight against agricultural terrorism introduced in the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture:
The Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Finance have reached an agreement to transfer 16.8 million NIS to the Natural Damage Fund (NRC). This is part of a special budget, subject to the approval of the budget division. This fund will include:
- Theft of sheep and cattle,
- Insurance against arson in packaging plants
- Insurance against the theft of agricultural products.
Research:
In accordance with the policy of the Ministers of Finance and Agriculture, an additional budget of 15 million NIS will be allocated to advance research in Israel. Notably, to modernize and renew laboratories across all units of the ministry. This budget will allow for the establishment of a professional, scientific, and technological infrastructure. Furthermore, it will enable us to continue conducting research in Israel and abroad.
