Airbnb retracts: cancellation of the boycott of apartments in the Judea-Samaria territories
The company reached an agreement with a group of plaintiffs, stating that the ban on listing Jewish properties in the territories constituted religious discrimination. The company stated that it would not prohibit the listing of apartments in the conflict zone, but would not retain any profits from rentals operated in Judea-Samaria.
Airbnb has succumbed to the intense pressure it has faced: the company announced on Wednesday that it had decided to reverse its November 2018 decision to remove apartments and vacation units located in the “settlements” from its website. The company announced that it had reached a judicial settlement of all claims filed against it following the decision made in November for religious discrimination.
“We understand the complexity of the issue raised in our previous announcement and will continue to allow the listing of properties in the West Bank, but the company will not profit from activities in the region,” Airbnb said in a statement. All profits that the company generates from its activities in the West Bank will be donated to nonprofit organizations dedicated to humanitarian aid serving populations in different regions of the world.”
