The Planning and Construction Committee approved on Monday a plan for a new residential neighborhood in eastern Netanya. The plan includes residential buildings totaling 3,500 housing units, a public transport terminal, a shopping center, educational institutions, and a park with an amphitheater covering an area of approximately 110 dunams.
The plan, which covers a total area of 875,000 square meters, is bordered to the west by the Amalia neighborhood, the Neot Ganim neighborhood, and the Kiryat Hasharon neighborhood.
Along the route, there will be bike paths and gardens, with a large shopping center. Approximately 90 dunams will be used for public buildings. To the south of the facility, an educational complex is planned, which will include a high school and a sports area. Primary schools and groups of kindergartens will be dispersed and located within the secondary complexes.
A park is planned to the east of the neighborhood, with landscaping designed to integrate with the agricultural nature of the region. Along the park, bike paths, running, hiking, and fitness complexes are planned. Lawns and facilities will be developed in the center of the park. From the promenade, you will be able to access small gardens with play facilities, dog parks, community gardens, and sports facilities.
Furthermore, part of the scope of construction in the plan is contingent upon resolving the transportation issue, including the construction of a new bypass road to Netanya East, which will connect Route 57 from the north to the planned Route 561 to the south. In the north, the plan includes a public transport terminal and includes guidelines for the construction of public transport lines for the residents of the neighborhood and its connection to the urban road network, including through the Public Transportation Authority, from Highway 57 to Alonim Street.
The plan was developed at the initiative of the Israeli Land Authority and was prepared by architect Doron Tzuf and Ada Huckman. “The plan creates a quality urban neighborhood with the accompanying infrastructure,” said Shira Brand, head of the regional committee, who stated that the plan would provide Netanya with various housing solutions. In addition to addressing the transportation needs of the city’s residents and its surroundings, for public institutions, and a large park for the benefit of the residents.”
