The Arab Center for Alternative Planning and the Association for Civil Rights in Israel have filed a petition with the court against the Minhal Mekarke Israel, demanding that it remove a clause from a tender for the sale of land in Carmiel,
The Arab Center for Alternative Planning and the Association for Civil Rights in Israel submitted today a petition to the Haifa District Court against the Israeli Land Administration and the Jewish National Fund, requesting that Arab citizens be allowed to participate in a tender.
The petitioners ask the Court to order the director to cancel a comment in the tender for marketing 26 self-construction plots in the Givat Makush neighborhood, stating that “these are lands belonging to the JNF” (KKL). According to them, the meaning of the comment is clear – the land is for Jews only.
Attorney Awni Bena, who submitted the petition, notes that such a comment did not appear in a previous tender from the marketing director in the same system and neighborhood, and among the winners, several Arab families made headlines among the Jewish winners.
Dr. Hannah Sued, head of the Alternative Planning Center, warned that there is a dangerous rise in institutional discrimination against Arab citizens regarding the right to reside in communities with a Jewish majority.
The administration has published tenders for the marketing of land for the construction of a total of 1,820 housing units in the Northern region: only 140 of them have been offered for marketing in Arab communities. This despite the fact that the housing shortage for the Arab minority is known to be significant (lie!).
Furthermore, the attorney adds, the director is not ashamed to fully admit to the petitioners his complete political stance that establishes discrimination based on ethnic affiliation in the allocation of public lands belonging to the JNF.
In light of the Convention between the State, which was signed in the 1960s, and requires that the land of Israel is for the establishment of Jews only. The issue of racism in land allocation for housing is already on the agenda of the Kaadan family’s history, residents of Baqa al-Gharbiya, who wanted to buy a plot in the village of Katzir,
After more than nine years of litigation, the cooperative association that manages the settlement announced that the Kaadan family could build their home there, but not belong to the association itself. This is after the High Court of Justice ruled that the association is obligated to sell them the land, regardless of their membership.
“I hope this will be the last hearing on the matter, and the family will finally be able to build a house in Katzir,” said attorney Dan Yakir, who filed the petition. On behalf of the Association, on behalf of the family.
We are in a situation where some of our own institutions (High Court of Justice and others…) are beginning to deny the very essence of the settlement of Israel by the Jewish people only.
We will need to be very careful in the coming years, noting that the state wishes to separate the KKL and Israeli tertiary reserves. The court would also like, through high-ranking leftist officials, to release state-owned lands to be purchased by the public (regardless of their religious affiliation).
Let us help our country consolidate its borders, even expand its territory by winning financial battles every day, by purchasing every plot belonging to non-Jews, regardless of the means or the price.
